Chris Clark arrived at Wisconsin in 1994 as an assistant men’s rowing coach in charge of the freshman team. Over the next 32 years, he not only became one of the most highly-regarded coaches in the sport but also the longest-tenured current Badgers coach.
Clark took over as the men’s rowing head coach in 1996 and was promoted to director of the men’s and women’s rowing teams in 2023. His teams have six top-five finishes in the varsity eight at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association national championships, including capturing the national title in 2008. He has directed teams to eight top-five and 20 top-10 finishes for the Eyck Trophy, presented annually to the rowing team with the highest points score at the IRA regatta.
